In the past, I have used various pre-paid calling services (like Reliance Global Call, Airtel CallHome, etc) to call India. With the launch of Ooma's new International plan offering 1000 minutes to India (and 60 other countries) for only $10/month -- I am very tempted to switch to Ooma for calling India, especially since Ooma devices are now sold for about $150 or so (and includes free unlimited calls within the US).
EDIT #1: I signed up for the $10 India/international calling plan a few weeks ago -- like the voice-quality & the convenience of calling direct to India :-). Ooma device/service is rated pretty highly on Amazon.com.

- Features such as call conferencing extra.
---> For me vonage 30$ is value for money, actually call over the world where ever friends and family are.
--> Most places calling landlines is free.
Ooma has no feature-limitations compared to Vonage -- certain features likes call-conferencing can be had by signing-up to the Ooma premier plan (check out http://www.ooma.com/premier/features)
The Ooma international plan (1000 minutes to 70 countries, including India) covers calls to landline in 70 countries, and includes calls to mobiles in 15 countries.
So far, I love Ooma's service (and value for money).
I thought of Ooma too but investing 150 dollars is not palatable to me for the sake of 'free' service. I would go with Vonage instead, if I understand that dandan is happy with the service, right?
Vonage world is really really good quality and extremely good customer service 24x7. Vonage costs roughly $37 per month after taxes and fees. Their unlimited allows about 3000 mins per month after which they start red flagging to ask customer to reduce usage, terminate without cost or move to a more expensive $60 plan.
Ooma is good balance between cheap ActionVoip and top of the line vonage. Costs about 3.50 per month for taxes on basic free line and 11.50 for 1000 min bundle. Quality is good (a tad bit lesser than vonage). Customer service is not as good as vonage (plus customer service on phone is available on during business hours. Beyond 1000 mins you get their bundle rate which is around 2.2c/min + tax.
I tried both and then decided to use Ooma and spill over to reliance global call after 1000 mins.
