Best Indian food on the Eastside of Seattle

EDITED: Nov/2012

Eastside has some reasonably good/authentic Indian restaurants. Whether you are looking for the typical Naan & curry, Dosas (Indian Crepes), Chaat, Indo-chinese cuisine, Indian Pizza or some light snacks to munch on -- you will find it all on the Eastside.

Some of my (mostly vegetarian) favorites are listed below...in so specific order.
  1. Indian-style Pizzas from CanAm Pizza (in Bellevue). Yumm!
  2. Gobi Manchurian & Dahi Bhalla from Kanishka (in Redmond)
  3. Onion Kulcha, Naan (and vegetarian curries) from Pabla (in Issaquah)
  4. Gulab Jamun & Parothas from Punjab Sweets (in Kent)
  5. Pongal & South-Indian Buffet from Udupi Cafe (in Bellevue). Food here is influenced by the cusine of Karnataka
  6. Dosas & Paneer Tikka from Spice Route (in Bellevue)
  7. Indo-chinese food from Inchin (in Redmond)
  8. Mysore Bonda & Veg Biriyani from Curry Point (in Redmond)
  9. Dosas at Aahaar (in Snoqualmie). Food here is influenced by the cusine of Kerala
  10. Pan roasted eggplant at Moksha (in downtown Bellevue). Some of the dishes here are influenced by the Tamil cuisine
  11. South-indian items at Swagath Groceries (in Bellevue)
  12. Chapatti from Haveli (in Redmond)
  13. Chaat and Indian Pastries from Mayuri Bakery (in Bellevue)

Review: WatchIndia.tv set top box

Options to watch Indian TV channels used to be somewhat limited in the US (especially for regional-language channels). Sometime ago I came across http://www.watchindia.tv/  , but never had a chance to try it out. Finally, I decided to give it a try & ordered their set-top box (I got the newer version with HDMI output & WiFi support). My experience so far has been pretty good... The device is slightly larger than the size of a wireless-router Setup of the device was pretty easy. It came pre-configured to log-in with my watchIndia account Video/audio quality is reasonably good (I use a wired ethernet connection). The video quality reminds me of an average quality SD channel (or a video-cassette). The picture does have some pixelation, but I found it to be tolerable. Check out the pictures below. The overall UI has some constraints, but it is not horrible (the UI does have some latency, but it's not too bad) The remote is OK; most of the buttons don't seem to be fun
