Good Indian Restaurants in Surrey/Vancouver/Abbotsford, BC

We have visited Vancouver, BC numerous times over the past 20+ years. Among other things, we like the Surrey & Vancouver area for its good Indian restaurants. Here are a few of our  favorites  (and some recommended by our friends) - updated in 2026. If you have been to Surrey many times & want to try a different place - Abbotsford, BC has some good number of restaurants & eateries (not as many as Surrey though). Driving time from Seattle to Abbotsford is almost the same as driving to Surrey. Here's a list for Abbotsford .

Visit Yellowstone & Grand Teton National Parks!

If you are planning a trip to the Yellowstone National Park (YNP) and the Grand Teton National Park (GTNP), below are some suggestions & tips. Best time to visit. July & August are the most popular months to visit YNP & GTNP. Second half of August is the ideal time frame, IMO. This is when the summer crowds reduce (since schools would have started in many parts of the US) and the weather is still pleasant. Drive vs Fly : Driving is a potential option if you are located in one of the nearby US states.  Driving vs flying is a   personal choice. Account for the fact that there's a good amount of driving even after you reach the YNP/GTNP. Best airports to fly into : If your goal is to minimize driving, consider flying into Jackson (or Idaho Falls) and flying out of Bozeman (or vice versa). If cost is a priority, consider flying round trip to Bozeman or to Idaho Falls. Ideal locations to stay : ...

Review: GoToBus bus tour of Niagara

We went a bus tour to Niagara Falls (from Boston, MA) . We booked the tour via GoToBus.com ; the tour itself was operated by Sunshine Travels . I took this tour with my parents, and here's a summary of our experiences. Quick Summary : Overall, the trip was nice. Among the good things... Ease of searching for tours & making a reservation via GoToBus.com We were able to cover Niagara comfortably in 2 days. The logisitics were planned well, and we were mostly on schedule in every place. Since, someone else was driving, I could spend some quality time with my folks. The price of the tour was very reasonable (esp because of the buy-2-get-1-free offer) Among the things that I didn't like... The quality of the hotel was pretty bad. Attitude of the tour-guide when pushing everyone to pay for the "optional" attractions & service-fee wasn't good.  Detailed version : The first thing to note is that GoToBus.com is not a tour operator...they connec...

Planning an Alaska Cruise

Updated for 2021 Best Time to go : From the weather perspective, the best times to go are from June through August; Best deals are usually available for cruising in May & September Best Cruise line : Princess has invested heavily in Alaska cruises & has good support for logistics at the ports. We went by Royal Caribbean to Alaska & it was good. Our parents were travelling with us -- so we had requested for Indian food for dinner every day & they accommodated this request. We have cruised on NCL in other places - they have fewer rules & policies (e.g.: dinner time, where to get seated for dinner, choice of restaurants, etc.) Disney offers good cruises for kids. Check out CruiseCritic  for lots of reviews & info. Best Deals : Monitor prices on VacationsToGo  -- they specialize in last minute (90 days) deals. OR request quotes on CruiseCompete  ; You can eventually buy through any online agency like Expedia or Orbitz. Once we bought...
